Ready or Not Foundation's
long term goal is to provide funding for research to allow
for the treatments and cure of pediatric brain cancers.
Ready or Not Foundation is pursuing this goal through fundraising,
coupled with its efforts to develop and enhance its relationships
with leading research institutions (and researchers) within
the United States.
More immediately, Ready or Not Foundation has set a goal to raise $500,000 (or more) for the years 2008 through 2010, for a total of at least $1.5 million dollars. Ready or Not Foundation has committed to direct these dollars to Texas Children's Cancer Center in Houston, Texas for their "Glioma Research Project." Texas Children's Cancer Center is committed to having one of the finest brain cancer research programs in the world (for more info see "Research We Support"). Texas Children's Cancer Center is a joint program between Texas Children's Hospital and the Baylor College of Medicine. Further, Texas Children's Cancer Center has procured a matching grant from a private foundation so that every dollar raised by Ready or Not Foundation is matched dollar-for- dollar twice from the private foundation (up to $1.5 million dollars). Thus, as Ready or Not Foundation reaches the goal of $1.5 million dollars, the Texas Children's Cancer Center will receive an additional $3 million dollars in research funding, for a total of $4.5 million. I am thrilled to report that as of April 1, 2009, Ready or Not Foundation has raised more than than $1.5 million dollars thus far due to matching grants, after two years of launching this organization. The dollars raised for research might provide the real breakthroughs that are needed for the treatment and cure of pediatric brain cancers.
